Leveling & XP: give your members a reason to keep talking
How GolemHQ leveling works — the XP curve, role rewards, level-up announcements, and the public leaderboard.
Leveling is the oldest trick in the community-building book because it works. Every message earns 15–25 XP on the classic curve, members climb levels, and each level is a small, visible I belong here. GolemHQ's leveling is on the moment you invite the bot — sensible defaults, zero setup.
Role rewards do the heavy lifting
The real magic is automatic role rewards: reach level 5, get @Regular; level 15, @Veteran; level 30, @Legend. Roles unlock channels, colors, and bragging rights — and the bot applies them the instant the level-up happens. Choose whether rewards stack or members hold only their highest, straight from the dashboard.
Tune it to your culture
Per-member cooldowns stop spam-for-XP, no-XP channels keep the meme dump from minting legends, and no-XP roles let you exclude bots or muted members. Premium servers can scale the whole economy with an XP multiplier (0.25×–3×) and write custom level-up messages with placeholders for the member, level, and server.
The public leaderboard
Every server gets a web leaderboard at a shareable link — progress bars, ranks, avatars. Members check standings with /rank in chat, and the race for the top ten becomes a self-sustaining engagement engine. It's the simplest feature we ship, and it's still the one that moves the needle most.
